Who is Shakyamuni Buddha?

Background

Buddha Shakyamuni is a real Buddha in history, the one who founded Buddhism. He was born in the land of South Asia (Nepal). His life, however, was associated with the regions of present-day India because of his achievements there.

Although he was originally a crown prince of the Gautama (Gautam) Royal Family, he soon gave up his glory and wealth to set out to find the right path. According to historical facts, after about 6 years of religious practice, He attained enlightenment at the age of 35, and he spent the remaining 45 years of his life spreading and teaching Buddhism all over the Indian continent.

Appearance

In the Buddhist scriptures, there are many ways to describe his appearance. He was a Crown Prince with 32 good personalities. From the moment He was born, He was raised by the royal family very carefully in terms of literature and martial arts. At the age of 13, he was taught martial arts and archery techniques. Therefore, before leaving to seek his own way, the Crown Prince was already a man with a strong body.

Description and meaning of the big marble Buddha statue

The statue shows the Shakyamuni Buddha in Abhaya Mudra with his hand raised to the level of his chest, palm facing out, fingers pointing upwards; and his left arm lower down in a zen posture.

The Shakyamuni Buddha in a robe with open shoulders, eyes ¾ closed, hairs in a spiral bun brings us a sense of sanctity.

There are many interpretations of the meaning and origin of this mudra. According to the historical records of the life of Shakyamuni Buddha, the fearless posture of the mudra shows that the Buddha was not afraid of any adversity or enemies. The Buddha was immediately free from all fear or extreme suffering of the world after his enlightenment.
